From the remains of spaced out post-rock group Sian Alice Band, comes Eaux; equally spaced out but wholly less reliant on narcotic guitar dirges.
For all its minimalism, ‘i’ is rich in influence - the PR correctly blurbs “ krautrock, psychedelia, minimalist Detroit techno, industrial & post punk” - a crawling shadowy song, made light by the glassy chorals of Sian Ahern.
Exactly half their former band, Eaux are said Sian Ahern, along with Stephen Warrington and Ben Crook. The new crew will release their new EP on November 19th via Morning Ritual, ‘i’ is the opening and title track.
The approach to this EP was bringing half-written songs to the studio for improvisation and some refinement, “but only up to a point… that they remain open to us to enjoy in a live context is really important,” says Warrington. “If we can’t play a part live in the room together at the same time, it seems wrong to add in later”, adds Ahern, “It feels less thought about, more automatic. For me it was transcendental – trancing out without too much work and effort.” *Source: hangout.altsounds
